La Misticanza is a young ensemble based on its musicians' mutual desire to explore the repertory of the sixteenth and seventeenth century, crossing in this research the most characteristic and disparate genres that outline the musical language of the time: from madrigal to dance music, from rigorous counterpoint to accompanied monody.

"Misticanza" or "mesticanza" indicated a musical genre which was in vogue in Italy in the 16th and 17th century. It is characterised by the mixing of different texts, often ambiguous and rich in puns, and melodies or fragments of melodies of various origins, especially popular ones.
